Creating Artworks and Being an Artist

In the context of the task “Creating works of art and being artists,” “Ateliers im Delta” serves as the name of Hannah and Ralf Moser’s studio. Our studio is an art, project, exhibition, and meditation space for analytical art and photography. In this way, we incorporate the studios in the delta into our artistic work and make them part of the whole on Carpe Diem et Noctem.

Our work always aims to make invisible mental structures visible and patronizing idealization recognizable. The works serve the artistic purpose of self-reflection and enable the viewer to detach themselves from idealizations, discover something for themselves, and learn lessons for themselves, but not for others. Our art deals with nature, landscape, city, God, everyday life, and the world.

Publishing Print Art and being a Publisher

Since we have our own workshops for print preparation, printing, framing, etc. of museum-quality images, we also support young artists in preparing their works, which they often cannot afford to do in the museum quality required by the art market. As part of our art business at Giftbox, we publish handmade artist books, our editions, and also unique pieces by our artists.

We started publishing limited edition art by essentially self-publishing our own work.

When Hannah participated in the Ray Master Class 2018 and presented her work Observation Deck, students from other universities were interested in creating artist books and image editions with us. This led to the creation of books and editions with other artists from other universities and with established artists who were interested in collaborating with us on editions.

Since many established gallery owners want to wait two to three years to see how young artists develop after graduating from college, it is difficult for college graduates to gain initial experience in the art market. The studios in the Delta therefore act as a producer gallery, providing the necessary platform for gaining initial experience in the exhibition arena and at art fairs.

Appearances as a producer gallery

Our in-house exhibition was the Discovery Art Fair, in which we regularly participated from 2018 to 2022.

Curating exhibitions and being a curator

Giftbox is a space, a project space, an art space, a studio, and an experimental stage for contemporary art. For some time now, we have been giving young artists in particular the opportunity to develop their own exhibition concepts in our Giftbox exhibition space, to refine their self-image, and to practice self-marketing. We supervise and curate the exhibitions.

We publish the exhibitions on the Giftbox homepage and as events on Facebook (Events). Click here to visit the Giftbox!

Promoting Art and being a Donor

We support artists while they are still studying. One of our main activities is awarding prizes for artistic photography at the annual art college tours. The aim of this support is not only to promote the artists themselves, but also to promote artistic photography across the various classes at art colleges and to foster a creative climate in which artists can flourish alongside their photography. Such a climate allows us to highlight the diversity of paths that lead side by side into the future of art and photography.

Sponsorship Awards

The university prize we donated was awarded for the first time during the tour of the Mainz University of Art. We received the following feedback from the university, which we are very pleased about:

Mainz University of Art: Award ceremony for photography studio tours at Delta (AiD)

On July 14, 2022, two photography prizes, each worth €1,000, were awarded for the first time during the tour of the Mainz Academy of Fine Arts. The prize is aimed at students who work with photography, including in a broader artistic understanding of media. The winners are Hetty Hollm from Judith Samen’s class and Charlotte Klinger from Tamara Grcic’s class.

With these prizes, Ateliers im Delta (AiD) has opened a new chapter in its support program for young artists. To date, AiD has published handmade artist books and high-quality editions for young visual artists working with photography, promoting and distributing them at trade fairs and organizing exhibitions. The Mainz Academy of Fine Arts is very pleased about this new cooperation.

Funding of projects

We also support projects by young artists and collect donations.

In 2023, Ateliers im Delta (AiD) gGmbH will support artist Paul Pape in presenting his self-built dance camera to an international audience at the photo festival in Copenhagen. The dance camera records the movements of dancers, creating dance images during the performance to live music.
